Mental health testing of school children without parental   consent is here in the U.S. now. The New Freedom Commission (NFC) is a group with pharmaceutical ties created   by a presidential executive order in 2002. The NFC’s members are  from the drug industry or have financial ties with it. They  designed an action plan for “early mental health screening,  assessment and referral to services.” The NFC recommends  mandatory mental health screening for all high school students.  As history has shown, once a federal program is created it  becomes institutionalized and rarely goes away. The costs are  rushing downhill towards the public like a thousand Niagara  Falls; costs in lives and money.

The American Association of Physicians and Surgeons
(AAPS) has called the New Freedom Commission’s plan “a
dangerous scheme that will heap even more coercive pressure
on parents to medicate children with the potential of dangerous
side effects.”

The New Freedom Commission (NFC) encourages
mental illness screening of all children and adolescents under
the guise of preventing youth suicides. The Commission
completely ignores the U.S. Preventive Service Task Force
finding that there is no evidence screening for suicide risk
reduces suicide attempts or mortality.

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Suicide
Research Consortium study found, “…a prevention program
designed for high-school aged youth found that participants
were more likely to consider suicide a solution to a problem
after the program than prior to the program.”

Jane Pearson, Ph.D. who chaired the NIMH consortium
stated that when researchers have tried to predict suicide using
as many known risk factors as possible (not like the simple
TeenScreen test) they are still unable to predict who will and
who will not attempt suicide.

TeenScreen Finds Most Teens Are Mentally Ill
The Federal government has budgeted money to bribe states to
follow NFC guidelines. The screening process the NFC chose as
the model, TeenScreen, identified 50 percent of teenagers who
were screened in Colorado high schools as suicidal and having
mental disorders. The fact that 9 out of 10 children or
adolescents who see psychiatrists are put on drugs should be
reason enough to have all Americans shouting, “NO MORE
DRUGGING OUR CHILDREN!”

Mad as a hatter. The phrase originated in the English Victorian era because hat makers often went insane due to the handling of mercury in the process of making hats. It has been recognized for more than one hundred years that mercury causes brain damage.

So why do U.S. pharmaceutical firms use a mercury- based preservative for vaccines given to babies and young
children? It saves money. Thimerosal developed by Eli Lilly in the 1930’s is a preservative agent to prevent bacterial and fungal contamination. It also allows multiple injections to be made from one vial of vaccine. One large vial to give many shots is less expensive than bottling vaccines in small individual doses.

The reality is Thimerosal use in vaccines is unimaginably more
expensive than the non-mercury alternatives. Not to the drug
companies. But for the millions of families who now have
children with autism or neurological disorders due to mercury
poisoning. Maybe the updated American term should be: Mad
as a drug company.

Unfortunately for American families the madness was
even more widespread than the drug companies. In 1997
Congress passed a resolution requiring the FDA to review
mercury in drugs and biologics. The meeting to review findings
resulting from the Congressional mandate was held secretly in
June 2000. Under federal “Sunshine Laws” a public
announcement should have been made in advance of the
meeting. No such announcement was made and the meeting
notes were withheld from the public until 2003. Access to the
database was withheld until 2005. As of September 2007 only
one independent scientist has been allowed to study the data.
The embargo of the meeting notes and data appear to be in
direct violation of the federal Freedom of Information Act.

The secret meeting held at Simpsonwood was organized
by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The
CDC went to great lengths to ensure everything discussed in the
meeting remained totally secret. Meeting participants included
high level officials from the FDA and CDC, vaccine specialists
from the World Health Organization, and representatives from
each of the major vaccine manufacturers: Aventis Pasteur,
Glaxo-SmithKline, Merck, and Wyeth. Throughout the meeting
the CDC reminded everyone no copies of any documents could
be made and no papers could be taken from the meeting. No
paper trails and sadly no whistleblowers.

The spy-like secretiveness of the meeting was due to the
frightening news that a mercury-based preservative,
Thimerosal, used in children’s vaccines was responsible for
autism in the U.S. to increase to the staggering ratio of one in
every 150 children. The CDC epidemiologist who had analyzed
the database of medical records for 100,000 children admitted he
was stunned. According to the meeting minutes eventually
released, Dr. Tom Verstraeten told the assembled group, “When
I saw this, and I went back through the literature, I was actually
stunned by what I saw because I thought it plausible.”

He goes on to cite the many earlier studies done by others that
had found a positive relationship between Thimerosal and
autism, attention-deficit disorder, speech delays, and
hyperactivity. All of these are neurological development
disorders.

EPILOGUE

February 2008

“Ms. Carlson, I am a lobbyist in Phoenix. There is a bill
before our legislature that will require pharmaceutical
companies to declare all gifts to doctors. We would like to help
this bill get passed. Would you be willing to speak before the
committee?”
I quickly agreed and plans were made for my
transportation from my friend’s home in Phoenix where I was
visiting. I prepared just as I used to prepare to give seminars,
with notes of important points to make.
“The pharmaceutical lobbyists are coming out of the
woodwork to fight this bill even getting to vote,” Richard
explained as we drove to the Arizona State Capital on a sunny,
warm day. After leaving the car in a public lot, he guided me
into a beautiful building and down a long corridor to the room
assigned to the committee.
“We should be scheduled for ten o’clock,” he said
looking over a posted sheet. But we were not on the schedule
for ten or any other time. “Maybe there was a delay of other
issues,” he said with a frown. He quietly opened the door to the
committee room. There was no one in the room. “This is
strange,” he said. “Wait here and I’ll try to find out what is
going on,” he said turning and walking back to the main lobby.
A few minutes later he returned with an exasperated
expression. “The pharmaceutical lobbyists got to the committee
chairman and had your presentation canceled. They have him
in their pocket. I’m really sorry to have put you to this trouble.”
“You mean the committee chairperson has the power to
decide if the committee will hear from a whistleblower?”
I asked.

“That’s right. That is why it is so easy for the
pharmaceutical industry to maintain control. They financially
support the key people like this chairman,” Richard explained.
“While we are down here I’ll introduce you to some
Representatives who are trying to hear the truth about the
pharmaceutical industry.”
We spent the morning meeting and talking with busy
Representatives. I was grateful for the experience because I had
been unaware of how easy it was for wealthy industries like
pharmaceuticals to control governmental procedures. I became
all the more determined to make this book available to the
public.

GOLD MINES
“There is no evidence that any mental disorder is caused by
chemical imbalance,” a Surgeon General’s report states. But
that truth is not slowing the sharp increase in the prescriptions
written for psychiatric drugs.

In 2007 the five leading psychiatric drugs grossed more money
than the gross national product of half the countries in the
world.

The pharmaceutical industry has discovered two gold mines
that could potentially keep billions of U.S. tax dollars flowing
into their coffers every year. One gold mine is their ability to
influence government legislation requiring mandatory mental
health testing. The legislation has the potential of leading to
millions of prescriptions annually. The other gold mine is the
industry’s influence over the creation of drug guidelines, also
called algorithms, defining what psychiatric drugs will be used
in large public systems like state mental hospitals, prisons, and
clinics funded by state and federal governments.

Many psychiatrists are alarmed by the influence the drug
companies have on the mental health field. “There is not one
shred of credible evidence that any respectable scientist
would consider valid demonstrating that anything that
psychiatrists call mental illness are brain diseases or
biochemical imbalances. It’s all fraud,” states Dr. Ron Leifer a
psychiatrist.

Every mental disorder in the U.S. is created BY VOTE
by the American Psychiatric Association (APA).

There are no diagnostic tests to provide evidence that mental health
disorders are caused by biochemical or neurological conditions.
It is a myth that psychiatry and the drug industry initiated. The
names of the disorders and the symptoms are all voted into
existence!  There is no valid test – no blood test, no brain scan, no
tissue test, no hormone test, no MRI, nothing at all that can be
used to diagnose any of the more than 350 mental disorders
now listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental
Disorders (DSM). And the APA continues to create new
disorders and new symptoms at an alarming rate. A longer list
serves both psychiatry and the drug industry.
One English psychiatrist candidly states in the documentary film,
Where the Truth Lies, “DSM stands for diagnosis as a source of
money. It brings in a lot of money.”
Psychiatrists from around the world were included in the
documentary, and every one of them acknowledged that the DSM
is not backed by science.  Which means that no mental disorder is

and the Psychiatric Establishment
Are Conjoined Twins – Joined at the Wallet
The conjoined twins have been able to make millions of people,
including physicians, believe in absurdities, which has led to
people committing atrocities such as drugging children with
deadly psychiatric drugs.
The APA is the most drug industry financially supported
medical association. In July 2008 Senator Charles Grassley’s

PROLOGUE

In 1600 Italian philosopher Giordano Bruno was burned at the
stake for promoting the astronomy theory of Polish
mathematician and astronomer Nicolas Copernicus. His theory
that the earth rotated on its axis and traveled around the sun
defied the accepted Ptolemaic theory that had been the core of
western astronomy for 1,500 years; the earth was stationary and
was the center of the universe. Bruno was brought to the stake
wearing an iron gag with an iron spike driven through his
tongue, lest he speak any last words.
Thirty-four years after Bruno’s execution, Galileo Galilie was
also brought to papal trial in Rome. Under threat of torture and
death he was forced to renounce all belief in Copernican theory.
He fared better than Bruno. He was placed under house arrest
and imprisoned within his home for the remainder of his life.
Galileo, a profound genius, was then not allowed to publish or
teach because his scientific studies of the solar system did not
support the beliefs that helped maintain the established power
structure.
Whenever the accepted beliefs are challenged, people who
have power will fight the change. Figuratively speaking, people
with power see themselves as the center of the universe. The
western medical model revolves around the pharmaceutical
industry. The medical system that has overtaken most of the
world is drug-centered therefore the pharmaceutical industry is
the center of the medical universe. Healthcare providers are
trained to believe in this view of the medical universe and are
continuously reminded to give allegiance to the drug industry.
Anyone opposing the established drug-centered medical
universe is pronounced a heretic and burned at the media stake.
This book is the equivalent of Copernican theory. It was written
to help save lives by reminding you to not give blind and deaf
allegiance to those who hold the power in the medical universe.
